Product Overview

The Tigo 492-00000-51 is the single-core RSS Transmitter outdoor kit for Tigo Fire Safety MLPE (TS4-A-F and TS4-A-2F). Tigo's RSS datasheet orders it as "Single core, RSS transmitter, DIN rail, 120/240VAC power source, outdoor enclosure".

While powered, the transmitter sends a power-line (PLC) keep-alive signal through a core around the PV string conductors, so the TS4 units stay on. When transmitter power is removed, the TS4 units enter rapid shutdown. Tigo's RSS IOM says each TS4 then drops its output to 0.6 V.

Tigo's RSS datasheet says the transmitter meets NEC 690.12 2017, 2020, and 2023 requirements as part of a rapid shutdown solution with Tigo TS4-A-F/2F MLPE.

Best For

  • Tigo TS4-A-F or TS4-A-2F arrays that need an external RSS transmitter: Where the inverter does not already include a built-in Tigo certified transmitter.
  • Outdoor mounting: The kit includes an outdoor enclosure. Tigo's IOM says bare RSS transmitters are NEMA 1 (indoor) rated.

What You May Also Need

Usually required

  • TS4-A-F and/or TS4-A-2F units on the modules: See TS4-A-F and TS4-A-2F. The transmitter alone does not shut down modules.
  • A 120/240 VAC supply on the inverter's AC branch circuit.

May be required

Optional upgrades

  • Dual core: Tigo orders the dual-core outdoor kit as 492-00000-52.

Check current manufacturer documentation before combining components, especially batteries, inverters, communications equipment and system-control hardware.

Important Considerations

  • Same AC branch circuit. Tigo's RSS IOM says the transmitter control power supply MUST be on the same AC branch circuit as the inverter.
  • Wait 30 seconds. Tigo's RSS IOM says to wait 30 seconds after rapid shutdown activation before disconnecting DC cables.
  • Core routing. Route string conductors through the core as Tigo's current IOM shows, and do not separate the positive and negative conductors from the same string (Tigo IOM).
  • Inverter list. For inverters with a built-in Tigo certified transmitter, check the Tigo UL PVRSS certified inverter list (tigoenergy.com/ul-pvrss), viewed Oct 8, 2026; no revision number.
  • Inverter pairing. Do not assume a specific string inverter, hybrid inverter or microinverter model is listed. Check the maker's current certified list and the document revision or view date before design.
