Product Overview

This IronRidge diagonal brace (GM-DB2-TB01-M1) is a 2" square aluminum tube, 88.5" long. It runs at an angle between a north and a south pipe leg on an IronRidge Ground Mount built with 2" pipe.

IronRidge Ground Mount combines XR100 or XR1000 rails with locally sourced 2" or 3" steel pipe or mechanical tubing. Vertical pipes (piers) are set in concrete or ground screws, and horizontal pipes run across their tops. A diagonal brace stiffens the legs. IronRidge calls it optional, for installations that require extra support.

This listing is the tube only. A complete brace also needs two sleeves (one on each leg) and one diagonal brace hardware kit, per IronRidge's cut sheet.

Best For

  • 2" pipe ground mounts that need bracing: IronRidge's span tables mark some layouts as requiring diagonal bracing. Your engineered design decides.
  • Checking your foundation type: IronRidge's manual says that in some cases cross bracing is required to provide extra support for piers. Your Design Assistant bill of materials or PE-stamped plans show whether your layout needs braces.

Important Considerations

  • Choosing a length. IronRidge offers two brace lengths for 2" pipe. Its catalog and cut sheet do not say which to use, so follow your Design Assistant bill of materials or PE-stamped plans.
  • Install order. IronRidge's manual says to install diagonal braces before the top caps.
  • 2" pipe only. IronRidge lists this brace "For 2” Pipe".
  • Pipe is not included. IronRidge Ground Mount uses installer-supplied 2" or 3" Schedule 40 steel pipe (ASTM A53 Grade B, galvanized) or approved galvanized mechanical tubing. See the pipe specifications in IronRidge's Ground Mount manual.
  • Engineering and permits. IronRidge says actual structural capacities are defined by PE-stamped project plans. Use IronRidge's Design Assistant and certification letters, and check local codes and soil conditions.
