The IronRidge QuickMount JayBox (QM-JBX-RF02-B1) is the deck-mounted version of the JayBox photovoltaic junction box, made for composition shingle roofs. It comes with a black aluminum flashing and self-drilling wood screws, and allows a waterproof conduit pass-through into the attic, per IronRidge.
IronRidge molds the JayBox from SABIC NORYL resin. Its hinged lid stays open on roof slopes up to 70°, per IronRidge. Because the enclosure is nonconductive, IronRidge says there is no need to ground the box or its lid.

Important Considerations
- Attic pass-through. IronRidge says not to install attic pass-through holes without the flashing and self-drilling roofing screws, and not to install the box directly over a rafter when using the pass-through.
- Placement. IronRidge says to avoid keyways, shingle joints or tabs in the shingle course above the box.
- Grounding. The box itself needs no grounding, per IronRidge. Equipment grounding conductors still land on the ground bar as the NEC requires.
- Licensed work. Install to the NEC edition your AHJ has adopted and the maker's current installation instructions.
