Product Overview

The GoodWe PCU (power control unit), part BZU0000-01-00P, is the control box for a GoodWe Lynx Home FH-US high-voltage battery. A Lynx Home FH-US battery system is a single tower made of one PCU on top and three to six 3.2 kWh battery modules stacked underneath. The PCU is required: GoodWe describes the battery system as a PCU plus battery modules.

The PCU is where the battery tower connects to the inverter. It has the power and communication connections, an air switch (a built-in breaker used to switch the battery on and off), a state-of-charge (SOC) indicator and a multi-function button. It talks to a supported GoodWe inverter over CAN communication. The PCU box also includes the base that the bottom battery module sits on.

"High voltage" means the tower's voltage rises with each module added, from 192 V nominal with three modules to 384 V with six. It needs an inverter built for high-voltage batteries, and GoodWe's battery compatibility overview lists which GoodWe inverters are approved.

Best For

  • Every Lynx Home FH-US battery tower: Each tower of three to six modules needs one PCU.
  • Homes with a supported GoodWe hybrid inverter: GoodWe's battery compatibility overview lists the Lynx Home FH-US with its A-ES, A-BP, ES-US20 and SBP-US20 inverters.
  • Self-consumption and backup systems: GoodWe positions the Lynx Home FH-US for residential storage, from self-consumption to backup power.
  • Garage or outdoor installs: IP65 rated. GoodWe still asks for a sheltered spot out of direct sun, rain and snow.

What You May Also Need

Usually required

May be required

  • Backup equipment: What a backup system needs depends on the inverter. Check your GoodWe inverter's documentation for any backup device it requires. AltE carries the GoodWe ABD Automatic Backup Device.
  • Another PCU and modules: For a second tower. Up to eight towers can be connected in parallel, each with the same usable energy.

Optional upgrades

  • Disconnects and breakers: For any additional overcurrent protection or isolation your inverter's manual or local code calls for.

Check current manufacturer documentation before combining components, especially batteries, inverters, communications equipment and system-control hardware.

Important Considerations

  • PCU on top. GoodWe says the PCU must be installed above the battery modules. Never install a module above the PCU.
  • Inverter firmware. ES-US20 and SBP-US20 inverters need ARM firmware version 03 or later; A-ES and A-BP inverters need ARM firmware version 24 or later and DSP firmware version 07 or later.
  • Set the battery model. After start-up, set the battery model in the GoodWe SolarGo app. Choosing the wrong model causes a battery communication failure.
  • Location. Install in a sheltered, well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight, rain and snow, and away from flammable or corrosive materials. Keep it out of children's reach.
  • Usable energy may vary. GoodWe rates usable energy at 100% depth of discharge in test conditions and notes it may vary with different inverters.
