Product Overview
The GoodWe GW11K4-ES-US20 is an 11.4 kW split-phase hybrid inverter from GoodWe's ES-US series for North American homes. It combines four solar MPPTs, a battery inverter/charger and grid connection, and supports backup through GoodWe's Automatic Backup Device (ABD).
Unlike 48 V hybrid inverters, the ES-US series works with high-voltage lithium-ion batteries: GoodWe lists a battery voltage range of 80–495 V (300 V nominal). A 48 V battery bank does not fit that range.
GoodWe's datasheet footnotes backup operation as requiring an Automatic Backup Device. GoodWe also offers an optional EV charger function for the series.
Best For
- Homes on 120/240 V split-phase service with a high-voltage battery: 11,400 W on-grid and backup output at 240 V, with 240/120 V backup output.
- Complex roofs: Four MPPTs (one string each) handle arrays on several roof planes. GoodWe lists 17,100 W of maximum PV input power.
- GoodWe Lynx Home FH-US battery systems: GoodWe's battery compatibility overview lists the Lynx Home FH series US (LX F9.6-30 to LX F19.2-30) for ES-US20 inverters.

What You May Also Need
Usually required
- A high-voltage battery on GoodWe's approved list: GoodWe's manual says to select the battery from the approved battery list. GoodWe's compatibility overview (V029.1) lists the Lynx Home FH series US for ES-US20 inverters and says ARM firmware versions 03 and above are required for compatibility. Lynx Home FH-US parts sold here include the 3.2 kWh battery module and the PCU battery control unit.
- GoodWe Automatic Backup Device (ABD) for backup: GoodWe's ES-US/SBP-US manual (V1.3) recommends the ABD100-63-US10 or ABD200-63-US10 for 9.6–11.4 kW inverters.
- Battery DC breaker: GoodWe's manual recommends a battery breaker with a nominal current of at least 60 A and a nominal voltage of at least 500 V.
May be required
- Disconnects and breakers: AC disconnects and breakers are often needed for the inverter output and backup circuits.
- Automatic transfer switch for a generator: GoodWe's manual says a system with a generator should also use an automatic transfer switch.
- PV cables: Extension cables carry power from the array to the inverter. Check connector types.
Optional upgrades
- GoodWe EV charger function: GoodWe lists an optional Level 2 EV charger (9,600 W, 40 A) that can be managed in the SolarGo app.
- Emergency stop button: GoodWe's manual recommends a UL-certified normally closed button if you add one.
Check current manufacturer documentation before combining components, especially batteries, inverters, communications equipment and system-control hardware.
Important Considerations
- High-voltage battery only. This inverter does not work with 48 V low-voltage batteries. Use a battery on GoodWe's approved list for ES-US20.
- Backup needs the ABD. GoodWe's datasheet notes the Automatic Backup Device is required for backup.
- 120/240 V split-phase. GoodWe lists 240 V nominal on-grid output and 240/120 V backup output. It is not listed for 208 V three-phase service.
- PV voltage limit. Keep each string's cold-weather Voc below 600 V; GoodWe notes the inverter will not work at 585 V or more. With no battery connected, GoodWe says it starts feeding the grid only when string voltage is above 200 V.
- Professional installation. Grid-connected hybrid systems need utility interconnection approval and are installed by qualified installers under local electrical codes.
