Limits to know before you choose
- The SUNON inverters are indoor-only (IP20) off-grid inverters. This bundle does not promise utility export, battery-free operation, a guaranteed runtime or whole-home coverage.
- Two Lithi2-16 batteries are rated 14 kW together against the SUNON12's 12 kW rating. Output stays subject to inverter, battery, voltage, temperature and configuration limits.
- Battery-side usable energy is not energy delivered to appliances, and a reserve you choose reduces what you can use.
- No solar panels or other charging source are included. Add a designed solar array, or a designed generator or grid charging arrangement.
Who it suits and which loads to check
Larger off-grid buildings with a charging source that you design.
List the loads you want to power, then check them against the inverter’s published rating and the battery’s power limits before ordering. In particular check:
- Continuous and starting (surge) power of motor loads such as air conditioners, well pumps and compressors.
- Load on each 120 V leg of a split-phase service, not only the total.
- Daily energy use in kWh, compared with usable battery energy after the reserve you choose.
- Your solar and charging sources, and how the system is charged when the sun is not enough.

Nominal energy is the battery’s rated size. Usable energy is what the manufacturer says can be drawn under its test conditions, measured inside the battery. Energy delivered to appliances is lower. These are different numbers and altE does not substitute one for another. Rated inverter power is a continuous output rating; what the system can actually supply depends on the inverter, battery, voltage, temperature and configuration.

Electrical and power
Manufacturer-documentedThe SUNON12 battery range is 40 to 60 Vdc (48 V rated); the Lithi2-16 is 51.2 V nominal. Current, protection and wiring limits follow the RUiXU manuals. Two Lithi2-16 batteries are rated 14 kW together (20 kW maximum under suitable conditions) against the SUNON12's 12 kW rating, subject to temperature, charge level and configuration.

Communications
Manufacturer-documentedRUiXU's Lithi2-16 manual (V2.1) lists the SUNON12 among its UL 1741 inverter models for the RUiXU battery setting. The table's layout is hard to read, and altE has not had RUiXU confirm the exact inverter setting or a minimum firmware version.

System certification
Open: to be specifiedRUiXU's page lists UL 1741 for the SUNON12; altE has not read the certificate. No certificate naming this inverter and battery together has been established. Check the listing your installation requires. UL 9540A is a fire-test method. It is not a system certification, and it does not by itself cover an arbitrary inverter and battery combination.
Installation requirements
- Electrical installation must follow the manufacturers' manuals and local code, and be done or reviewed by qualified personnel.
- The SUNON inverters are rated IP20 for indoor use only. Plan an indoor, dry location with the clearances in the manual.
- You will need AC conductors and breakers, disconnects, grounding and bonding, labels, anchors and a load-panel design for your site. None of these is in the bundle.
- Motor starting, air conditioning, well pumps, per-leg loads and any generator connection need to be checked against the exact inverter before you rely on this bundle for them.
- Fix each Lithi2-16 battery as the manual describes, and keep the clearances it lists.
