Product Overview

The RUiXU SUNON3.6 is a 3.6 kW, 120 V all-in-one off-grid inverter for 48 V battery systems. One indoor unit combines a pure sine wave inverter, an MPPT solar charge controller and a grid/generator battery charger. It lets a cabin, shop or home run from solar, batteries and a generator or grid supply.

Output is 120 VAC from one unit. RUiXU says up to six units can be connected in parallel (21.6 kW total), and that paralleled units can form split-phase or three-phase output; follow RUiXU's manual for those configurations.

It is an off-grid (stand-alone) inverter. Grid or generator power can charge the batteries and pass through to the loads. RUiXU's documents do not describe it as a grid-tie inverter that exports power to the utility.

Best For

  • Small off-grid cabins, sheds and shops on 120 V: 3,600 W rated output, 7,200 VA maximum.
  • Smaller solar arrays: One MPPT with 4,500 W maximum input power.
  • Systems that may grow: Up to six units in parallel, per RUiXU.

What You May Also Need

Usually required

  • A 48 V battery bank: The inverter takes a 48 V-class battery (40–60 V); RUiXU lists lithium-ion, lead-acid and user-defined battery types. RUiXU's Lithi2-16 battery manual (V2.1) lists the SUNON7.2 and SUNON12, but not the SUNON3.6, as compatible inverters, so confirm communication settings with the battery maker before pairing a lithium battery.
  • Battery cables and DC overcurrent protection: Size them for the inverter's maximum charge and discharge current, following RUiXU's manual and the battery maker's instructions.
  • Solar panels wired in strings: String voltage must stay within the 90–260 VDC MPPT range and below the 300 VDC maximum open-circuit voltage at your site's coldest temperature.

May be required

  • Disconnects and breakers: DC and AC disconnects or breakers are needed; RUiXU's spec sheet lists no integrated circuit breaker.
  • Generator: A generator can charge the batteries and run the loads through the AC input.
  • PV cables: Extension cables carry power from the array to the inverter. Check connector types.

Optional upgrades

  • Additional SUNON3.6 units: RUiXU lists 1–6 units in parallel.

Check current manufacturer documentation before combining components, especially batteries, inverters, communications equipment and system-control hardware.

Important Considerations

  • Indoor only. RUiXU rates the enclosure IP20 for indoor use. Install it in a dry, ventilated space, and expect output to derate above 45°C.
  • Off-grid, not grid-tie. RUiXU describes the SUNON series as off-grid inverters. Do not plan on exporting solar power to the utility with it.
  • 120 V from one unit. A single SUNON3.6 cannot power 240 V loads such as well pumps or electric dryers. RUiXU describes split-phase output only from paralleled units.
  • Battery settings. With closed-loop communication, set the battery type and protocol in both the battery and the inverter as the battery maker's manual describes. With lead-acid or user-defined batteries, set the charge voltages from the battery maker's data.
  • Professional installation. Battery-based systems involve high DC currents. Have a qualified installer design and install the system under local electrical codes.
