Product Overview
This listing is 36 SunPro SPDG440-N108M10 solar panels. Each panel is rated 440 watts, so the 36 panels add up to 15,840 watts (about 15.8 kW) of panel power at standard test conditions. SunPro's datasheet lists 36 panels per pallet, so this is a full factory pallet.
Each panel turns sunlight into DC electricity, which an inverter then converts into AC power for a home or building. SunPro's datasheet describes the SPDG440-N108M10 as an N-type bifacial module with 108 monocrystalline cells. Bifacial means the back of the panel can also collect some light, such as sunlight reflected off the ground. The panel has glass on both sides (2.0 mm on the front and back), an anodized aluminum frame and a full-black appearance.
Each panel measures about 67.8 × 44.65 inches, is 30 mm (1.18 in) thick and weighs about 51.4 lb. SunPro lists module efficiency at 22.53%.
Best For
- Homes where appearance matters: SunPro's datasheet lists this model as a full-black version, which gives a uniform dark look on the roof.
- Raised or ground-mounted arrays: When light can reach the back of the panel, the bifacial design can add some output. SunPro's datasheet shows 506 W at 15% rear-side gain. Actual rear gain depends on the site.
- Higher-voltage string inverter systems: The panel is rated for systems up to 1,500 VDC (check your inverter's own limit, which is often lower).
- Installers and larger projects: 36 matching panels (about 15.8 kW) arrive together on one factory pallet.
Key Features & Specifications
| Specification | Details |
|---|---|
| Product type | N-type bifacial monocrystalline solar panel, full black |
| Model / manufacturer part number | SPDG440-N108M10 |
| Quantity in this listing | 36 panels; 15,840 W total at STC |
| Rated power (STC) | 440 W per panel. STC (Standard Test Conditions) is the lab test used to rate every panel the same way. |
| Power tolerance | 0 to +5 W |
| Module efficiency | 22.53% |
| Open-circuit voltage (Voc) | 38.53 V at STC. This is the panel's voltage with nothing connected. It goes up in cold weather, so use the cold-temperature value when checking inverter voltage limits. |
| Short-circuit current (Isc) | 14.43 A at STC; 16.59 A at 15% rear-side gain (SunPro's bifacial table). Use these to check inverter and microinverter current limits. |
| Voltage / current at max power (Vmp / Imp) | 32.09 V / 13.72 A at STC |
| Output at NMOT | 329 W (Vmp 29.90 V, Imp 11.00 A, Voc 36.10 V, Isc 11.63 A). NMOT is a test closer to real outdoor operating conditions than STC. |
| Bifacial output (15% rear-side gain) | 506 W; Imp 15.77 A; Isc 16.59 A. Real rear-side gain depends on the site. |
| Temperature coefficients | Pmax −0.30%/°C; Voc −0.25%/°C; Isc +0.046%/°C. Power drops a little as the panel heats up, and voltage rises in the cold. |
| Solar cells | 108 N-type monocrystalline cells (182 × 91 mm) |
| Maximum system voltage | 1,500 VDC |
| Maximum series fuse rating | 30 A |
| Operating temperature | −40°C to +85°C |
| Mechanical load (test) | +8,000 Pa / −5,400 Pa |
| Construction | Front: 2.0 mm anti-reflective coated glass. Rear: 2.0 mm heat-strengthened glass. Anodized aluminum frame. |
| Junction box; connector | IP68 junction box with 3 bypass diodes; Stäubli MC4 connectors |
| Output cables | 4 mm² wire; 1,100 mm (43.31 in) leads |
| Dimensions (each panel) | 1,722 × 1,134 × 30 mm (67.80 × 44.65 × 1.18 in) |
| Weight (each panel) | 23.3 kg (51.37 lb) |
| Factory packing | 36 panels per pallet; 936 panels per 40 ft high-cube container |
| Warranty (per SunPro datasheet) | 15-year quality guarantee. 30-year power warranty: 99% of rated power in year 1, 89.4% at year 25 and 87.4% at year 30. SunPro notes an extended warranty is available on request at additional cost. |
What You May Also Need
Usually required
- Inverter or microinverters: Converts the panels' DC power to AC. Choose a string inverter, or microinverters, whose datasheet input voltage and current limits fit this panel's Voc (38.53 V at STC, higher in cold weather) and Isc (14.43 A at STC, up to 16.59 A with rear-side gain). Not every inverter or microinverter fits every panel, so check each model's limits.
- Roof mounts or ground mounts: Rails, attachments and module clamps hold the panels. Choose clamps whose listed frame-height range includes this panel's 30 mm frame. Mounting hardware is sold separately.
- PV cables: Extension cables carry power from the array to the inverter or combiner. These panels use Stäubli MC4 connectors, so check the connector type on any cable you add.
May be required
- Rapid shutdown devices: Systems on buildings generally must meet NEC rapid shutdown rules (section 690.12), depending on the code edition your area uses. Some inverter systems include this, and others need separate devices.
- Disconnects and breakers: Required by code in many systems to safely isolate the array and inverter.
- Grounding hardware: Panel frames are normally bonded to ground through grounding lugs or a listed racking system. Follow your racking manufacturer's instructions and your local electrical code.
Optional upgrades
- PV cable clips: Hold panel leads neatly along the frame and keep them off the roof surface. Check that the clip's frame-thickness range fits this panel.
- Battery storage: Adds backup power or lets you use more of your own solar power. Storage can be DC-coupled (a battery with a hybrid inverter) or AC-coupled (a battery with its own battery inverter). Either way, choose the battery and inverter to work together for your system and check both manufacturers' compatibility lists.
Check current manufacturer documentation before combining components, especially batteries, inverters, communications equipment and system-control hardware.
Important Considerations
- Large, heavy shipment. This listing is 36 panels, about 1,849 lb of panels before packaging. Make sure you have space and a way to unload and store them, and check that your roof or structure can carry the array.
- Cold-weather voltage. Voc rises as temperature drops (−0.25%/°C). When wiring panels in series, calculate string voltage at your site's coldest temperature so it stays under the inverter's limit and the 1,500 V module limit.
- Bifacial rating vs. STC rating. The 506 W figure assumes 15% extra light on the back of the panel. Size your system and production estimates from the 440 W STC rating unless you have a site-specific estimate of rear-side gain.
- Matching panels. Panels wired in the same series string should be the same model and rating. Check the full model and rating on the panel label before mixing panels from different orders.
- Mounting and warranty documents. Get SunPro's current installation instructions and full warranty terms before you design the mounting layout. The +8,000 / −5,400 Pa figures are test loads; the loads a real installation can carry depend on the mounting method and clamp positions.
- Country of origin. SunPro publishes separate datasheets for US-made, US-assembled and overseas versions of this model with the same electrical ratings. This listing does not specify the version, so if you need domestic-content documentation, confirm the version before ordering.
- Handling. These panels have glass on both sides. Handle them with care, and never stand on them or put concentrated weight on the glass.
