Product Overview
The IronRidge UFO, or Universal Fastening Object (UFO-CL-01-B1), is the mid clamp that holds two neighboring modules to an IronRidge XR rail. This listing is the black finish.
IronRidge says UFO comes fully assembled and lubricated. It is a single-size clamp that IronRidge lists for module frames from 30 to 46 mm.
IronRidge's XR Flush Mount manual places a UFO between each pair of modules. EFO end clamps, UFO with a Stopper Sleeve, or CAMO hidden clamps secure the row ends.
Best For
- Mid clamping on IronRidge XR rails: IronRidge's XR Flush Mount datasheet lists UFO as the system's module-to-rail mid clamp.
- Modules with 30 to 46 mm frames: IronRidge's cut sheet and manual give this range.
- Black arrays: Pair it with the EFO end clamp, black. A clear UFO is also available.

What You May Also Need
Usually required
- End clamps for each row: EFO, black or mill for 30 to 40 mm frames, or CAMO.
- A grounding lug: IronRidge's manual calls for a rail or module grounding lug. IronRidge's Parts Catalog lists the low-profile grounding lug (XR-LUG-04-A1).
- A torque wrench and 7/16" socket: Listed in IronRidge's XR Flush Mount manual.
May be required
- XR rails, splices and attachments: See roof mounts.
Optional upgrades
- Clear finish: The clear UFO (UFO-CL-01-A1), listed in IronRidge's Parts Catalog as Universal Module Clamp, Clear.
Check current manufacturer documentation before combining components, especially batteries, inverters, communications equipment and system-control hardware.
Important Considerations
- Reinstalling. IronRidge says to move modules at least 1/16" so UFOs contact a new section of frame. Make sure the T-bolt bottoms out in the rail channel before re-torquing.
- Rail joints. IronRidge says UFOs must be installed 1" away from the point where two rails join.
- End clamps have a smaller range. EFO is listed for 30 to 40 mm frames, so check your end clamp if frames are taller.
- Check your module. IronRidge's XR Flush Mount manual lists the framed modules tested or evaluated with the system, by maker and frame height. Confirm yours is listed.
