Product Overview
The IronRidge PV Module Grounding Lug (PV-LUG-01-A1) connects a solar array's bonded module frames to the grounding conductor. It mounts to a module frame, not to the rail.
IronRidge names this part in its BX ballasted system manual (Version 4.2). There, IronRidge says one PV Module Grounding Lug is required per continuous array, regardless of array size.
IronRidge's XR Flush Mount manual also describes a "Module Grounding Lug" but gives no part number. Confirm with IronRidge before using this lug on an XR rail system.
Best For
- IronRidge BX ballasted arrays: The BX manual says to use the IronRidge PV Module Grounding Lug (PV-LUG-01-A1).
- Grounding at the module frame: IronRidge says to secure it to any module in the array, at the grounding location the module maker specifies.

What You May Also Need
Usually required
- A copper grounding conductor: Size it to your design and the NEC. IronRidge's documents differ on lug wire ranges, so confirm the range for this part with IronRidge.
- The module maker's instructions: IronRidge says to reference them for the grounding location.
May be required
- A rail-mounted lug instead, on XR rail systems: IronRidge's XR Flush Mount manual allows a rail grounding lug or a module grounding lug. IronRidge does not name PV-LUG-01-A1 in that manual.
Optional upgrades
- Other racking parts: See solar panel mounts.
Check current manufacturer documentation before combining components, especially batteries, inverters, communications equipment and system-control hardware.
Important Considerations
- System match. IronRidge names PV-LUG-01-A1 for the BX system. Its XR Flush Mount manual describes module grounding lugs without naming this part.
- Galvanic contact. IronRidge says bare copper grounding wire must not contact aluminum and zinc-plated steel components.
- Grounding is code work. IronRidge says to provide direct-to-earth grounding per the latest NEC, including Articles 250 and 690.
