Product Overview

The IronRidge Slotted L-Foot (LFT-03-B1) is an extruded L-shaped bracket that connects IronRidge rails to a roof attachment. This listing is the black finish.

The base has a slotted hole for the bolt or stud on the attachment below. The upright leg has an open slot for the rail's bonding hardware.

IronRidge designed its QuickMount Lynx standing seam clamp for use with IronRidge open-slotted L-Feet and IronRidge rails. In IronRidge's XR Flush Mount manual, the L-Foot is listed among the system components.

Best For

  • Standing seam metal roofs with IronRidge Lynx: IronRidge's Lynx documents say Lynx works with the Slotted L-Foot. See the IronRidge Lynx clamp.
  • Exposed-fastened metal roofs with S-5! SolarFoot: S-5! describes SolarFoot as a mounting platform for a rail system's L-foot, sold separately. IronRidge lists SolarFoot as a tested or evaluated third-party attachment.
  • Black racking: Choose this finish to match black rails. The other finish is sold separately.

What You May Also Need

Usually required

  • A roof attachment that takes an L-foot: For example an IronRidge Lynx on a standing seam roof. See roof mounts and metal roof mounts.
  • IronRidge XR rails and bonding hardware: IronRidge's manual attaches the rail to the L-Foot with bonding hardware.

May be required

  • Module clamps and grounding: Choose them from IronRidge's XR Flush Mount manual for your modules.

Optional upgrades

  • Spare L-feet: Useful when attachment positions shift from rafters or seams.

Check current manufacturer documentation before combining components, especially batteries, inverters, communications equipment and system-control hardware.

Important Considerations

  • Keep the rail at or above the top of the L-Foot. IronRidge's manual says that when using attachments with longer slots, do not install the rail lower than the top of the L-Foot, to avoid damage to modules.
  • Torque per the attachment's instructions. IronRidge and S-5! give torque values for each attachment and for bonding hardware in their manuals.
  • Check the attachment fit. Make sure the bolt or stud on your attachment passes through the L-foot's base slot as its manufacturer's instructions describe.
  • Engineering and permits. Attachment spacing, rafter or deck requirements and load capacity are project-specific. Use IronRidge's design tools and stamped certification letters, and install under local building codes.
