IronRidge FlashFoot2 (FF2-02-M2) is a flashed roof attachment for composition (asphalt) shingle roofs. This listing is the mill finish. It anchors IronRidge XR rails to the roof rafters.
The aluminum flashing slides under the shingle course. A stainless steel lag bolt with an EPDM-backed washer goes through the flashing into the rafter. A twist-on Cap then locks over the bolt and gives the rail an open slot to attach to.
IronRidge describes a three-tier water seal: an elevated platform that diverts water, a stack of components that raises the seal an inch, and a Cap that encapsulates the seal. IronRidge says the Cap aligns the rail with the lag bolt in a concentric load path.

- Composition shingle roofs: IronRidge rates FlashFoot2's water seal for composition shingle roofs with slopes between 2:12 and 12:12.
- IronRidge XR Flush Mount systems: IronRidge's FlashFoot2 manual says it is ready for IronRidge XR Rails once installed. The Cap can face E/W or N/S rails.
- Installs that use one socket size: IronRidge says the custom lag bolt uses the same 7/16" socket as other Flush Mount components.
- Mill racking: Choose this finish to match mill rails and clamps. The black version is sold separately.

- IronRidge XR rails and bonding hardware: The rail attaches to either side of the Cap's open slot with IronRidge bonding hardware (sold separately).
- Roofing sealant for the pilot holes: IronRidge's steps say to fill each 1/4" pilot hole with the roofing manufacturer's approved sealant.
- Module clamps and grounding: Choose them from IronRidge's XR Flush Mount manual for your modules. See roof mounts.
May be required
- Splices and expansion joints: IronRidge requires expansion joints on rows of continuous rail over 100 feet.
- Tools: IronRidge lists a tape measure, chalk line, stud finder, roofing bar, caulking gun, and a driver with a 1/4" bit and 7/16" hex socket.

Important Considerations
- Placement under the shingles. IronRidge says to slide the flashing between the 1st and 2nd courses. The top must sit at least 3/4" above the edge of the 3rd course, and the bottom above the edge of the 1st course.
- Lag into the rafter. Locate rafters, snap lines and drill 1/4" pilot holes as IronRidge's manual describes. Tighten the lag bolt until fully seated.
- Composition shingle only. IronRidge's water seal ratings for FlashFoot2 apply to composition shingle roofs between 2:12 and 12:12 slope.
- Finish warranty. IronRidge's 5-year finish warranty does not apply to mill aluminum, per its limited warranty document.
- Engineering and permits. Attachment spacing, rafter or deck requirements and load capacity are project-specific. Use IronRidge's design tools and stamped certification letters, and install under local building codes.
