Peerless Premier Pro Range

I have had this range (with no clock) for about two years. Before finding it, I was in a quandry: I sure didn't want to spend thousands, but I didn't want something tinny, either. And I didn't want complicated electronics that could cause problems. I also wanted something that was energy efficient and that could operate if the electric power went out. I have been pleased with the Peerless. I understand that most gas ovens use an electric glowbar that operates continually while the oven is on and that uses a considerable amount of energy. The Peerless does not have a glowbar. The burners have adequate power for my needs, but I have never cooked on high-powered burners, so maybe I just don't know what I'm missing. The oven is not convection, but I find that it bakes evenly. It's also not self-cleaning, but I wouldn't use that feature if I had it. There's no oven window, but I always open the door to peek even when I have a window, and I like not having to keep a window clean. If I had it to do over again, I think I might buy the stove in white. I find the stainless steel oven door something of a nuisance to keep polished. The black shiny stove top doesn't show spills as much as white would, but they show enought that I find myself taking off the grates and cleaning it after each big cooking session. The oven door feels solid, but it certainly isn't a Viking. My one performance complaint is that one of the cast iron grates on the stovetop has corroded some. Otherwise, it's a sturdy good-looking energy-miser at a good price. I'll give it a 4 1/2.
