Product Overview

The Heyco SunRunner S6405 is a stainless steel clip that holds solar panel wires neatly in place. It snaps onto the edge of a solar panel frame (or another thin metal edge, such as a mounting channel) and grips up to two cables. Wires stay tidy instead of hanging loose, where they can rub, sag or sit on the roof.

The clip is made of .025 in thick 304 stainless steel with smooth edges that won't damage cable insulation. It installs by hand without tools, and a screwdriver slot lets you move or remove it later. This is a pack of 100 clips.

Best For

  • Wire management on panel frames: Heyco designed SunRunner clips for PV module wire management. They hold each panel's leads and extension cables along the frame.
  • Running cables along racking: Heyco says the clips can also dress cables along mounting channels and other panels, when the edge is .055 to .125 in thick.
  • Any spot needing one- or two-cable management: Heyco says the clips may be used wherever single or multiple cable management is needed, within the clip's size limits.

What You May Also Need

No other parts are needed to install the clips. They go on by hand, and a flat screwdriver is handy for removing or moving them.

May be required

  • PV extension cables: Carry power from the array to the inverter or combiner, and the clips help route them along the frames. Check that the cable's outside diameter is within 0.20–0.30 in.
  • Strain reliefs or liquid-tight cordgrips: Where PV cables enter a junction box or enclosure. Clips route cable along the frame, while strain reliefs and cordgrips protect and seal the cable where it enters a box.

Optional upgrades

Important Considerations

  • Measure before you buy. The edge the clip grips must be 0.055–0.125 in thick and stick out at least 0.56 in. Thicker frames need a different clip. Heyco makes other SunRunner versions, such as the SunRunner EZ for edges up to 0.250 in.
  • Cable size. Each cable must be 0.20–0.30 in in outside diameter, with no more than two cables per clip.
  • Not for saltwater environments. Heyco says the 304 stainless steel S6405 is not for use in a marine saltwater environment. Heyco offers a 316 stainless version (S6490) for marine and other harsh environments.
  • Clips manage wire; they don't replace code requirements. Follow the NEC and local code for supporting and protecting PV wiring, and the panel and racking manufacturers' wire-management instructions.
