Southwest Wind Power 42FT Whisper 500 Guyed Tower Kit

A reasonable alternative to a monopole tower

Although I really wanted a monopole tower for my Skystream 3.7, shipping for one of those was outrageous. Southwest Windpower does not allow pickup at their location either. So, I chose this tower kit, found some 5 inch pipe as specified, dug 5 holes for the anchors(not included), poured the concrete and erected the tower using an electric winch on my car hauler trailer. Oh, and I did this with absolutely no assistance. Although the manual does not recommend it, with careful planning, this tower can be erected by one person. Once the guys are adjusted, raising and lowering the tower is simple. If you do all the work yourself, expect to have $3000 in the tower including the concrete, anchors, etc. In the end, although it isn't as good looking as the monopole, it gets the job done better because of the increased height over the standard 33ft monopole.
