As soon as we installed our fan in Hawaii, the temperature in the attic dropped 50 degrees and since installed, we have not had to use our air conditioning unit. The bedrooms are about 10 degrees cooler now. Great product. The motor is quiet and it's been working for three years without a hitch. It's important that the fan has an open source for air to be drawn up to it like an open trap door to feed interior air. Other wise, the unit will not be as efficient as it can be. Our unit works even when it's cloudy. It operates on UV rays!

Fantastic Purchase by Gordon Friend

This fan really works. In fact the guy who installed it told me that he has installed other solar fans and they never had quite the same velocity. The switch turns it on at 80 degreed and off at 70 degrees. The only thing that I wish is that I could hook up a battery to store power for high heat during night time weather. Otherwise I am extremely happy with this purchase and would buy it again.

We had a standard electic fan installed in our attic and then 2 days later found this solar powered fan. We quickly ordered it and returned the electric version. Now we can have the fan running all day long and never worry about the electric bill. It seems to keep the attic at least as cool as when the electric fan was installed which is a good thing living in southern california.

We bought this much-hyped fan because from the literature it appeared to be the best. Man were we wrong. Within 6 months the thing started making a racket that could be heard all over the neighborhood. I called the manufacturer and they sent a new motor. I thought I could replace the motor from inside the attic where I have good access as opposed to on the roof, which is difficult to reach. However, it turns out that you need a man inside and one outside in order to perform what should be a simple task of replacing the fan motor. I would not buy this product again. Unless you have easy roof and attic access and you have a helper to replace the fan motor when it goes out in six months I would say you should stay away from this overpriced piece of crap.

Installation was pretty easy. Instructions were easy to follow. Unit runs smooth and Quiet. The unit doesnt draw enough air to cool the attic. I put a temp. gauge in the attic and didnt see any difference with the unit on of off. Cant find a cover big enough to cover it during the winter. Price is to high and will take a long time to recoop any savings from the unit. [Editor: Removed sentence mentioning competitor] I dont see where it is going to save me money on my A/C bill.
