Good utility panel used in my application to maintain my communications batteries that support my ship-to-shore and cellular links.

Great Compact Panels by Robert Reynolds
Date Added: February 06, 2008
These are really nice compact panels that work well for locations where there is limited surface area available for mounting. I ordered two of these for use on a Toyota Mini RV and they worked terrific. Good output and efficiency even mounted flat on the RV roof. Solid construction and nice water proof junction boxes. Looks like these panels will last a very long time.

Im using this panel in parallel with a Global Solar 60w panel I picked up a couple years ago, the pair are feeding a C35 charge controller for a pair of marine batteries. Im using the setup mostly to run the air pumps for my outdoor hydroponics garden but when the sun is shining it provides enough power to recharge my electric bike or recharge electronics and flashlights in event of an emergency. The junction box made wiring much easier than the GSE cables which needed to be spliced with a cable of the right connector.

KC85T Panel Does the job by Stuart Macdonald

Purchased KC85T 85W panel for a 27 foot sailboat along with a Morningstar MPPT controller and I am seeing charge rates as high as 7.5A to my batteries as shown by my Link20 Link State Monitor. Boat is at 9000 feet in CO lake so gets pleanty of sun. Panel mounted with three 3/8 thick *1.5 inch wide aluminum stock and 1 inch rail mounts from Taylor-Made to allow panel to adjust. Bought nylon ell for junction box and ran 10 ga wire through it and filled with 3M 4200 to make completely waterproof. Only caveat is that the Junction box position makes rail mounting a chore due to its location requiring a rail mount to end up with 2/3 of the panel on trailing side of rail and a little off balanced. Holds up great in 40kt winds. A custom 304 SS Rail mount was made by Railmakers.com. Purchase from AltE was on-time, staff were very helpful and the packaging was solid.

I was quite pleased with the service I received on this order, as well as with the panel. It offered a big boost to my charging capacity, and now if I add one more panel, I'll have to replace my original controller. Great service as well as easy access for customer support.

Great panel for the money by Michael Riewer
Date Added: September 16, 2008
One of the best panels currently out for the money. With bright skies and no direct sunlight it was delivering 16.5 volts! The J-Box means not having to deal with MC cables, which I like. I only bought one panel to charge my batteries while I am away from my cabin and it was packaged and shipped wonderfully, double boxed with triple layer cardboard frame inside. I plan to add more for my off grid cabin setup in time.

No regrets by John Dalhaus

This mid-sized panel is a good dollar-per-watt value, and a good size to work with. At times I've observed panel current in excess of that specified in the specifications. The J-box provides plenty of room for ease of wiring, and is well sealed. I plan to put up additional KC85T panels in the future.
