Retrofit - using solar shingles

I have an old 3 story, 2 family Victorian in southeastern CT.  I'm faced with replacing the roof this year or next and was wondering if it was feasible and/or economically viable to use solar shingles instead of regular asphalt shingles.  Can you help me determine if it makes sense and how to go about doing the research?

unisolar shingles look nice (if you cant get enough of the look of shingles) cost 50% more than standard pv modules, and have several times more wiring connections through your roof.

I do like unisolar, but my personal opinion is that you are paying through the nose for product and installation, for aesthetics and understatement.  only you can be the judge if it is worth it.

Decide if you want to do photovoltaics first, regardless of the roof.  see what the costs are, know the products, have a budget or a percentage of load goal that someone with expericence can design a system around.  then, once you have that data, compare the modules to the shingles.
