Battery corrosion

I have a Dodge 2500 pick truck and it seems to have excessive battery and electrical corrosion not only on the battery terminals but where there is metal to metal contact around the engine compartment. I was once told that excessive battery corrosion is a sign of a poor or defective ground. Can anyone confirm this or offer an explanation of why Thank you

Re: Battery corrosion

....or maybe there is a frayed wire somewhere in contact with the body....if it were a bad ground you would see flucuations on your gauges and lights.....if there is excess corrosion on the battery and wire terminals...DISCONNECT THE BATTERY THEN clean them with baking soda and water and a wire brush WHILE THE BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED!!!! ....if the corrosion comes back on the terminals you may want to consider getting a new battery...
