Bypass Diodes / Do I need them?

The Solar Panel Manufacturer states the following in their documentation
"It is recommended that Bypass Diodes be installed, especially if the modules are connected in a series string."
I am not installing in a series string. I am using one EC-51 Evergreen panel to trickle charge a Xantrex 1500 Portable Power System (battery with integrated inverter). I will be using a Morning Star Sunsaver charge controller to avoid overcharging and will also prevent backflow so no Blocking Dioes required. What are the Bypass Diodes for and do I need them in my installation?

I would have to say no. The charge controller is going to do what the diodes would to. I have none in my system if it makes you feel better.

Chris, nope...as you said it is in the controller..
