Chinese Solar panels

I have an opportunity to purchase 180watt, 24 volt, UL approved Monocrystalline Solar Panels made in China for $4 a watt including shipping. Is this a good deal? Does anyone have any experience with Chinese Panels?

 Thank you for your help.

Re: Chinese Solar panels

Are you buying these things through a reputable, established dealer here in the US, or ordering direct from China ? If you are dealing directly, you may have difficulties if any technical or warrantee issues arise.

I haven't used large panels from China. But speaking from experience with other Chinese products, their quality control is sporadic. (Most developing nations have the same problem).

I think you will have less headaches if you stick with the better name brands. Decide which one(s) you want, and buy from a reputable dealer.  The cheapest price is not always the best price.  I want someone that will stand behind the products they sell, and help should any problems arise.

Re: Chinese Solar panels

Given that you can get B spec Evergreen panels right on this website for about the same price, there isnt much of a reason to take on the potential hassle of chasing down shipping damage and quality control issues with a firm on the other side of the world. Granted the evergreens are 12 volt versus 24 unless you are doing a small grid conect system, it really shouldnt make a difference.

When you buy Chinese direct without the benefit of going through a distributor, you are essentially taking on the responsiblity for quality control.
