Bad Transfer Switch

This inverter is used as a grid tie back up for a solar thermal pump. Our rural electric coop has occasional power interruptions which the inverter works well to switch to battery power. The problem lies in the fact that it doesn't always switch back to grid power and then drains the battery down to the shut off setting and then the pump stops.
Xantrex support claims that the relay contacts must have partially welded due to a high surge and that is not carried under their warranty. They suggested I file the points on the relays. (Ha Ha) The relays are enclosed and soldered to the circuit board. This inverter has to power less than 200 watts of equipment when in battery mode. Two star rating mostly due to the poor support as well as the failure to operate as specified.
