DAKSC-SEALKIT1 Dankoff Solar Pumps SUNCENTRIC 7xx1 to 4
Seal and gasket kit for Suncentric surface pump, models 7xx1 to 7xx4.

Here are some tips from the altE staff

  • Should I use a linear current booster with the Suncentric pumps?
    • No. LCBs improve the performance of pumps in less than optimal light conditions by reducing the voltage from the solar array to increase the current to the pump. Many DC pumps can run on a range of different voltages, but not the Suncentric - it needs to run at a voltage that is pretty close to its nominal voltage. Therefore, the use of an LCB with a Suncentric pump is discouraged.
  • How can I tie in a float switch to the circuit of a Suncentric pump if I can't use an LCB?
    • You have a few options: Use our high current float switch, which uses a mercury contactor to provide better arc quenching. Depending upon the array voltage and motor current, you should still expect pitting of the switch contacts and occasional switch replacements. Second option, install a parallel micro system which charges a battery, which is used to drive a relay (such as a mercury contactor). However, the cheapest/fastest and generally best way is to just plumb an overflow pipe back to the source or to a useful need, and just let the pump run.
  • Can I use a dry run switch with a Suncentric pump?
    • The DRS from the Booster/Slowpumps can't work with the SunCentric because a centrifugal pump doesn't get hot when it runs dry. You must use some sort of level switch, like a float switch if you believe there is any possibility of running dry. However, that adds another level of complexity because float switches need to be replaced occasionally when used to interrupt the power in array direct applications (especially at the current and voltage levels of the SunCentric line), and you can't use a relay in an array direct app unless you have some other power source to power the relay. It's better to design a system that can't run dry, or if it does on rare occasions, expect to replace seals when it does.

Dankoff Suncentric HT repair parts confusion

by

I ordered the only seal and gasket kit offered for a Suncentric only to be severely delayed in finishing the service call because there was not an HT (as in high temp) version listed. I found this out by accident while talking to a Dankoff tech support person. Had I installed these bushings, th...
