Durability Factors
We use these bateries in remote mountain-top solar applications for which they are well suited, especially if the stand-by telecoms load is a small % of the over-all battery capacity (massive battery plant). The main longevity factors with these are over-temperature and over-charging. Either one will significantly reduce battery life. However, for our cold weather sites, we have changed-out 15 year old GNB 90A15s (replaced only becuase of the time they have been in service), and have found using a week long charge-discharge-charge test down to 11.5 volts, that they still meet their original specs of around 600 amp/hrs. Being an older battery, and considering helicopter costs, we dont think we would put them back into a critical remote application, but it does show they are fairly robust in the long run provided they are basically kept refrigerated, not over-charged, and not too often deeply dischared.
