AIR-X 48 Volt Wind Generator
This wind generator comes set for Gel Cell battery charging. When we switched to lead acid, it had to be sent back to the factory to have new set points adjusted. The generator works OK, but is not living up to my expectations. It may be the air flow around where it is installed, but the charging seems to not initiate in as slow a wind as it should. Also, its orientation does not remain as fixed in the wind as I would expect - it dithers around in Yaw so much that the charging is not sustained. The addition of a larger "rudder" stabilizer might help. W have it mounted about 75-feet off the lake level on to pof a converted radio antenna tower. Gyroscopic reaction to simple flexing of the tower also contributes to the Yaw deviations. It truly need a very rigid mount. It does keep the battery array fully charged in the winter and that is its main job. If I had it to do all over again, I would probably get a much larger unit with a greater generating capacity and a greater rotational inertia.
