I wouldn't have an Air-X turbine that didn't have one of these installed. Easily mounts to a control board and works as advertised.

This two position switch to stop AIR-X
is indispensable. Rugged design. Easy to install.

The switch is nice for summer nights when you you have your windows open and can hear the turbine start up in gentle winds. Flip the switch and the turbine will spin silently.
You could cut the power with a breaker but then the turbine will spin for a seconds or two and break, causing a thump and undo wear on your turbine.

This product didn't come with any documentation. If you guess the plus and minus connections and don't get it right you'll end up melting your switch. I should note that the location of the plus and minus connectors can be found in the Air Breeze manual but not on the switch.

Cheers,

2 position switch by Edward Buzzard

The switch works fine, although you have to check the positions with an ohm-meter. As another summary stated, it is a little on the small side as I was required to use #6 AWG wire and reduce down to # 8AWG to fit the terminals. It seems that the reduction causes a in line loss stepping down from # 6 AWG wire. I am still using this switch but am trying to find a heavier duty one.

Stop switch Air-X 12V by burkhard leide

Dear AE team,

after a very satisfactory installation of the Air-X (first AE order) I am a bit disappointed with the second purchase, ie. its control elments, in particular the mini DIN rail box and the stop switch for the following reasons:

mini DIN rail box - it's too small to receive a proper mounting of the surge arrestor and not adapted to host the stop switch... only the breaker is properly located in it (on the DIN rail) hence for the remaining elements I have to purchase a bigger box to make it a decent & dust tight control center

stop switch - the connection of its tiny srews to three (3) 13 sq mm cables is almost impossible (at least here in Europe one cannot find the lugs for such tuny srews with rather thick 13 sq mm cables... also not being mountable on a DIN rail I am tempted to ignore that part as well and get a DIN rail equivalent switch.

In summary, I thought that the elements were better tuned for erection (although your site phots show that they are not...)

Never mind, best regards,

Burkhard

As previously noted, poorly labeled for use. Mine broke during disconnect after first month. Tabs simply too puny and weak for the reccomended wire gauge. Will design my own for this year.

Let me start by saying that I am not very knowledgeable about electronics, but I did set up my turbine completely alone, so that may count in my favor.

I used the wire gauge that is recommended by the Air-X, and the switch is not made for heavy gauge wire. It took a lot of effort to get the wire to connect to the switch, and it just doesn't seem to be the right switch, even though it is clearly marked for the Air-X.

I feel that the switch is in fact the weakest part of my setup. Maybe I did something wrong, but I followed the instructions as best as I could. Then there is the fact that the switch does not say which side is "on". Both my wife and I have made the mistake of thinking we are turning the thing "on" and have turned it off. We have since labeled it, but it should have had a marking on it.

I would have gladly paid more for a more robust switch.
