Two New Renewable Energy Workshops from Alt-E Store

HUDSON, MA: The Alternative Energy Store will offer two workshops in May to teach contractors, electricians and the general public more about installing and using renewable energy technologies. The workshops will be held at Alternative Energy Store’s headquarters located at 43 Broad St, Suite A408 in Hudson, Mass.

On the weekend of May 5-6, 2007, the Alternative Energy Store will hold the two-day workshop “Solar Water Heating: From Basics to Installation”. Both sessions run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Day one is a complete course covering the science and technology of solar water heating. Day two is instruction in setting up solar hot water systems. The course will be taught by industry expert, Bob Ramlow who has more than 20 years of experience and is the founding member of the Midwest Renewable Energy Association and co-owner of Artha Renewable Energy. The cost of the class is $400 and includes light lunches and a copy of the book Solar Water Heating – A Comprehensive Guide to Solar Water Heating and Space Heating Systems by Bob Ramlow and Benjamin Nusz.

On May 12-13, 2007, a two-day course in “Advanced Photovoltaic (PV) Concepts and Installation” will be offered which is geared towards licensed electricians, contractors and those with a strong basic understanding of renewable energy systems and electrical principles. The workshop will educate attendees in all of the components that make up the solar electric system and how it works, as well as system design, safety and hands-on installation.

Both sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $450 which includes a light lunch both days. Renewable energy expert Chris LaForge, an NABCEP certified installer and owner of Great Northern Star renewable energy business in Wisconsin will teach the course.

Workshop size is limited and enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis.

According to Sascha Deri, one of Alternative Energy Store’s founders, “Until now, there were very few options for people in the northeastern United States to take in-depth classes and workshops on renewable energy systems. Our goal is to make renewable energy education more easily attainable to everyone and enable as many people as possible to make informed decisions on what types of renewable energy systems are right for them, how to safely install their own systems and to even become future renewable energy system installers.”
