AltE® U Awarded IREC Accreditation

AltE® U has been awarded Institute for Sustainable Power (ISP) Training Program accreditation by the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) for its Photovoltaic Design and Installation and Solar Thermal Design and Installation courses offered in the Hudson, MA headquarters.

The courses, known by their 301, 302 and 303 designations within the AltE® U course catalog, offer in-depth design and hands-on educational opportunities for future installation professionals looking to move into the renewable energy industry.

“We are very pleased to be one of only thirteen organizations in the country that holds this accreditation,” explained Kristen Ferguson, AltE® U Manager. “We worked hard to achieve the award, and will continue to work hard to maintain the high IREC standards.”

The Institute for Sustainable Power Quality (ISPQ) standards were developed to ensure consistency and quality in the delivery of renewable energy courses. According to their website, “[t]his International Standard specifies requirements for competency, quality systems, resources, and qualification of a curriculum against which trainers and training programs can be evaluated.” The goal of IREC and the purpose of the ISPQ standards are to ensure high and consistent standards across all of the training programs popping up as renewable energy becomes more popular.

“Our goal at AltE® U is to provide practical hands-on training with an emphasis on safe and reliable installation practices. With the recent recognition from IREC, we hope to reach more potential students and really help the responsible spread of renewable technologies and do our part to train the growing green workforce,” said Ferguson.

Currently, AltE® U is scheduled to offer Photovoltaic Design and Design and Installation in June, August and October of 2009. Solar Thermal Design and Installation courses are currently scheduled for September of 2009. All classes are open for enrollment provided completion of prerequisites.
