SMA now has available their Rapid Shutdown System for Sunny Boy inverters. It is designed to work with the Sunny Boy-US and TL-US inverter lines - without disruption to Secure Power Supply during daytime grid failures or the inverter’s AFCI safety features. And it allows for multiple MPPT! This system is simple, reliable, and cost-effective, and meets all requirements for 2014 NEC 690.12 Rapid Shutdown. Safety first! It also saves on labor by limiting additional equipment needed. Designed with hybrid switches for system disconnecting, it’s capable of thousands of cycles without degradation. Additionally, its automatic self-test upon startup ensures proper function of the Rapid Shutdown Box for optimal safety for the first responder, and peace of mind for the homeowner. The Rapid Shutdown Controller, which is additional, offers a complete solution to satisfy NEC requirements and safe system operation.
