Delta-T PRO Differential Temperature Controller (with Ethernet)Write a review

firmware v4.2 is good by Michael Grall

I originally purchased the Delta-T Pro Ethernet because it could drive a variable speed pump and claimed web monitoring. Variable speed pump control worked well out of the box, but I was disappointed when web monitoring did not function. The folks at Heliodyne worked with me to troubleshoot and improve firmware, and altE was very helpful in making sure I was satisfied. With the latest firmware update (v4.2) web monitoring is functional. I can now say that I would recommend this product to others. One thing I would like to see in the future is firmware update via the Internet.

Check for latest software by Martin Conroy

Make sure the unit you get has the latest software upgrade, which includes web based monitoring. Latest software as of August 2009 is v 2, mine came with v 0, which does not do web connect. The controller is easy to install, and works well. It could be improved by adding a display, and a pre-wired plug for the circulation pump.

Delta T Pro - Ethernet by George Cohn

I bought the Ethernet version of this controller because I have an extensive wired network in my house. I wanted to be able to view/modify from any computer.

First the pluses, The controller does a great job of controlling the pump. I have the Grundfos flow sensor and five temp sensors. This was a replacement for my old controller. I have two 3 foot by 8 foot panels and am in the Southwestern Arizona desert. Its possible to get water up to 170 F with this combination. With its browser interface, its easy to set up and you can monitor temperatures and flow rates in real time.

Now the minuses. I bought this unit thinking I was going to get a bunch of nice graphs and data to track my solar gain. No such luck. After being in operation for nearly three months, it still gives very spotty results.

I can have a bright sunny day and the daily graph will start showing some solar gain from 8 AM to noon then nothing for the rest of the day, even though the pump is cycling and the tank continues heating and reaches peak temperatures usually around 4 PM. I even had tech support from Heliodyne log in remotely and they say there is nothing wrong. The other graph that disappointed me is it shows no data for the months of May or June although its been on line since April.

According to the yearly chart: As of 06/21/2009
Total Production: 58,975.0 BTU
CO2 Offset: 10.6 lbs.

But again, nothing showing on the graph for year to date data.

So I have mixed feelings for this controller. It does a very good job of controlling and is easy to set up and monitor but its reporting capability leaves a lot to be desired.
