Many electric scooters and golf carts use a 36V or 48V battery bank, but most solar panels operate at 12V or 24V. One solution is a unique type of solar charge controller which takes the lower-voltage power from the solar panels, and automatically converts it up to the voltage of the electric vehicle's batteries. This allows you to easily create a solar charging system without having to buy more solar panels.

Charging a golf cart with a solar panel using a Genasun charge controller
We demonstrate how you can charge a 36V or 48V golf cart battery bank with a single solar panel using Genasun’s GV-Boost solar charge controller. Unlike most solar charge controllers, the GV-Boost increases the voltage and decreases the current at its output, allowing a single solar panel to be used to charge the higher-voltage battery bank.
