Apollo Solar T80 MPPT Solar Charge ControllerWrite a review

I installed my 1st T80 charge controller over two years ago followed by a second just weeks after the first. Although new to market as the first 80 amp MPPT charge controller I decided to try it. My first one failed in 2 weeks. A call to Apollo Solar resulted in an overnight replacement while mine was evaluated. A lot of new products sometimes have a few “bumps” before the ride smooths out. It seemed to be just a firmware issue and Apollo Solar fixed my original and sent the programmer so I could flash upgrade my second one. Both have been working flawlessly and in comparison to competitor’s MPPT charge controllers the Apollo T80’s advanced algorithms actually seem to squeeze more power from the Photovoltaic Array.

I have a T80HV. It was very difficult to get a hold of customer service, although when I finally did, they were extremely helpful. Sad, Apollo doesn
t spend more time on ensuring customer service support.

Unlike Mr. Parish, e-mails to customer service and telephone calls where they promised to call back in a couple hours have yielded exactly nothing. I have two T80s and simply want a firmware upgrade from my present 4.03 to something after 5.0. The two T80s are not in service at this date, so I can
t comment on their reliability, but if anything is wrong, getting them fixed may be a big problem.

As of 24 May 2012, I have been unable to make contact with anyone at Apollo Solar. (I have their 4Kw 48v inverter, T80HV charge controller, and ISM.) They do not respond to email, or phone calls. All I get when I call, no matter which menu option I choose, is voicemail I believe they are either out of business or nearly so. In any case there customer service, at present, is not existent.
Their systems appear to be well engineered but if there is no company to back it up then it is meaningless.
