Solar Panels

This 4 kW grid tie with battery back up home solar system features fifteen (15) Kyocera 270 Watt Multi-crystalline solar panels. Kyocera's advanced cell processing technology and automated production facilities have produced a multi-crystal solar cell with an efficiency of over 16%. All Kyocera solar panels are constructed using a tempered glass front, EVA pottant and a PVF backing to provide maximum protection from the most severe environmental conditions. The entire laminate is framed in a heavy duty anodized aluminum frame to provide structural strength and ease of installation. Because Kyocera solar modules are so efficient, less space is required than other solar panels of equal output. This translates to both more wattage per square foot and lower mounting structure cost.

The Outback Radian A series Inverter/Charger inherits the hallmark features of the original design including: Dual AC inputs for grid/generator flexibility; unparalleled surge capability and operational stability; easy field upgradeability and stacking capability for large systems; easy-to-use configuration wizard; and multi-mode operational flexibility.

In addition, it has the Advanced Battery Charging (ABC) profile option to support leading edge technologies such as Lithium-Ion and others. The inverter/charger also incorporates Outback's GridZero technology - a superior level of intelligence in energy management for self-generation and self-consumption programs, providing precise balance between using stored energy, and solar and utility power. This helps to overcome surges and load spikes when needed. GridZero makes it possible for a smaller inverter/battery system to perform like a much larger one, when required.

FLEXmax 80 MPPT Solar Charge Controller

The FLEXmax 80 is the latest innovation in Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) charge controllers from OutBack Power Systems. The FLEXmax 80’s innovative MPPT algorithm is both continuous and active, increasing your renewable energy yield up to 30%. Thanks to enhanced cooling, the FLEXmax 80 can operate at its full 80 amp maximum current rating in ambient temperatures as high as 104°F (40°C).

Included in the FLEXmax 80 are all of the features first developed by OutBack Power in the revolutionary MX60, such as support for a wide range of nominal battery voltages and the ability to step-down a high voltage solar array to recharge a low voltage battery. A built-in backlit display shows status information at the touch of a button. Enhanced network communications allow the FLEXmax 80 to be remotely programmed via the optional MATE system display and controller.

Aquion Energy Batteries

Aquion Energy’s Aspen 48S Battery Stack is the first cost-effective energy storage solution that is high-performance, safe, sustainable, and non-toxic! Based on Aquion’s patented Aqueous Hybrid Ion (AHI™) technology (a unique saltwater electrolyte chemistry), the 48S is designed for stationary, long-duration cycling applications. These batteries deliver extremely long cycle life, deep depth of discharge and excellent abuse tolerance. S-Line Battery Stacks are ~2.6 kWh systems at 48V nominal and can be connected in series or parallel for a wide range of system configurations. The only Cradle to Cradle Certified™ energy storage product on the market !

This home solar system includes (8) 48V, 47.3Ah batteries, which will be wired together for a 48V, 378Ah battery bank. The beauty of this saltwater technology is that it can be discharged up to 100%! So a battery bank of this size will provide on average 5000 Watt hours (Wh) of energy per day, for two days when fully charged. This is a rough estimate of capacity, actual capacity can change based on temperature, state of charge and the condition of the batteries. Additional batteries can be added to this system to increase the capacity of the battery bank.
