Hi Gary,
I have a beautiful 1 kw Wincharger wind electric system that might be just what you are looking for. We power our farm with these machines and they are very reliable, user friendly and are USA made to last a lifetime. This machine has a 10 foot propeller, a 48 inch governor and a 39 inch high tail. If you are interested, I can send you further information. You can see these types of machines by going to www.wincharger.com  .  Regards, Terry Bryant

#3 -  Renewable Energy > Technical Discussion: Other > Re: Wind noise and vibration of wind generators roof mounted
Chris, I have been in the wind energy field for better than 30 years and have helped many, many people with their systems. I would NEVER recommend putting a wind turbine on the roof of any structure, especially a residence. The turbine WILL transmit vibration to the structure, and it won't take very long to get tired of hearing it. Take a 10 or 12 foot long 2x4, and have a friend barely touch a "quiet running" cordless drill to one end, while you put your ear to the other. It won't take long to see how well the vibrations are transmitted through a wood framed structure. Secondly, roof top installations place the turbine in turbulent air coming off the roof. This will result in poor performance, AND the extreme turbulence during gusty shifting winds can snap a blade off very easily. Always mount your wind machine up in "clean" air, at least 15 feet above any object within 300 feet. Your machine will be safer, and will perform much better, resulting in more power for you. Its always a good idea to check any local ordinances before putting up a tower, and if you have neighbors, talk with them about your project before the fact, not after. Lastly, although "clean air" is great, and taller towers are better, never put one up taller than you are willing to climb in the dead of winter! Good luck on your project

#4 -  AltE > Discussion > Re: wind charge 36V golf cart
Michael, I would recommend that you consider using a 32 volt wind machine like a pre REA Wincharger, Winpower, Parris Dunn or Wind King to name a few. The 32 volt generators will easily produce better than 40 volts. These machines are still available out there, and are built to last a lifetime. They will do a beautiful job of charging a 36 volt battery. In addition, if you want to do more than charge a battery, there are all kinds of 32 and 36 volt lights, fans, and motors available, and you can still buy inverters for use at these voltages. Also consider that the marine industry still uses 32 volts on ships so there are all kinds of accessories out there for use at your voltage. Lastly, from a transmission standpoint, 36 volts does not suffer anywhere near the volt drop problems associated with 12 volt systems, so it allows for the use of smaller wire sizes for comparable loads. We power our house and farm using two 32 volt Winchargers, and AC power is provided by a Xantrex inverter powered by our batteries. We couldn't be happier with our system. You can check out other people using 32 volt machines at www.wincharger.com  Good luck

#5 -  Renewable Energy > For Sale > Wincharger 1KW Wind Generator
We have a 1 KW Wincharger wind electric windplant for sale. This machine is in near NOS condition, and near flawless in every way. We have never seen one as nice as this. 10 foot laminated propeller, 48 inch governor, all cast iron construction and helical cut gears that run in oil. This machine was built to deliver reliable wind power for a lifetime. Buy this for the same money as the cheap plastic bladed junk they market today! 1,500 FIRM. I will send pictures to all serious inquiries. You will not believe the condition of this machine! bryantwind @ madbbs.com
