How to attach solar cells to backing panel

Hello all.  I am new to this forum and I hope someone can give me a hand.  I am expanding a wind system to a wind/pv system.  I have purchased a large quantity of solar cells which are fully encapsulated (only the connection tabs are exposed).

Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best material to use for the backing panel?  I was thinking that pressure treated plywood would work fine but I've seen where some people have said 'never use wood' but don't say why.

Also, what is the best adhesive or method to attach the small (2" x 2") PV panels to the backing plate.  I was considering some silicone cement or 'liquid nails'.

Any help with these question or any other pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks  -Bill

Re: How to attach solar cells to backing panel

William, wood holds water and moisture and water and electricity do not mix to well. Most PV are encapsulated in glass which is mounted into a frame. If you are building your own frame, you can use either Aluminum sheet or rigid foam insulation. Just keep an airspace between the backing and the cells.
