Dear Madame/Sir,
Here two questions from sunny South Africa.
We in Johannesburg are on the same latitude as Miami, so we have the same number of sunny days per year. Some of us (who are not born here) don't understand how comes that Solar energy, in all it's forms, is not utilized in this country and in this region. Accordingly, we have to inquire about Solar Energy all the way in Europe and North America. Here are two questions:
- In this region, during the summer, we have short yet very strong thunderstorms with lightnings. Lightnings are so strong that one can speak of electrical storms. What is the impact of lightnings on PV systems?
- There is an abundance of bird-life in this region. How does one prevent birds from nesting on solar panels and/or leaving their droppings there?
