Renewable Energy Investments

Renewable energy is what the world is shifting towards, owing to the high demand for fossil fuel energy and its shrinking demand. The renewable energy is a natural source of energy that is inexhaustible and can be used for unlimited periods of time.

Renewable energy sources are energies extracted from sources like the sunlight, wind, rain and geothermal heat. These can be replenished and replaced through natural means and don’t get easily depleted over time. Renewable energy has found an important place for itself in the field of commercial energy. It can be amicable used along with non-renewable sources to optimize the energy requirements. Continuous innovations are taking place in the renewable sources arena, which has acted in its advantage.

The improvement in the power generated from these renewable sources is for everyone to see. For example, Global wind power generating capacity currently stands around 100GW. Solar power plants contribute more than 2,000 MW per year. Investments in renewable energy are becoming the trend in the investment markets. This is owing to the growing concerns about the world’s increasing energy demands that are causing many countries to seek energy independence.

What companies would you include in your portfolio, and why?

Re: Renewable Energy Investments

Since RayLis doesn't seem to be around anymore, I'll ask the same question to everyone else:

If you were going to invest in Renewable Energy-related stocks, which would you own, and why?

I bought some UQM recently, and it seems to be on an upward trend.  I think they're tops when it comes to efficient motors and controllers for electric vehicles.  Your thoughts?

Re: Renewable Energy Investments

The renewable energy and bioenergy sectors include:
•   biofuels
•   biomass, solid waste and biogas
•   geothermal
•   mini-Hydro
•   marine
•   solar
•   wind

Renewable energy investments are becoming the trend in the investment markets. Increasing the proportion of power derived from renewable energy sources is becoming an increasingly important part of many countries's strategies to achieve reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

Green house gas emissions are getting more focus and to avoid this we need to invest more in biofuels, biomas and geothermal as there are many projects that are investing in biomass and geothermal energies.

I can provide you one link http://www.energyboom.com/ from where you can get some better updates and information about power plants and projects that are using these energies to avoid global warming.
