most economical power source

We live in N.E. Texas on a nice hill with lots of southern exposure.   We do several acres of truck farming and have several wells on the place.  We also border a swamp that is almost always wet.
Currently we are buying our water and electricity, except for some water that we pump for garden watering.

We are thinking of putting in a windmill and/or solar for part or all of our 4 households and gardening needs.   Any info. or advice would be appreciated on how to do this in the most cost effective way.    We have a welder and electrician able and available for building tower, wiring, etc.   Thank you very much for any info. that you give. e-mail -   aspinnerstale @ aol.com
