Micro hydroelectric power?

I understand about setting up a small turbine in rivers but I was wondering if these turbines also function in saltwater?  Considering the corrosive effects of saltwater, do turbines deteriorate in these conditions?

I would look for one manufactured specifically for salt water.  Might be hard to come by though.  If you're handy, you could probably rig up your own using the parts of a defunct outboard engine.
