motor driven battery charger and controller

i have a system an outback vfx 2430 invert. a fm 80 ch.contr. 4 torjan t105 225ah batt.a mate don have the panell yet but have a  alternator 24v . question can i use a 12v motor to turn the alt and charge my batt. bank

Donald, for test purposes and too keep the batteries charged without a panel, go for it. But be sure to use your charge controller off the 24 volt alternator to ensure proper voltage and to avoid over charging and rapid charging of the batteries. Check the current output of the alternator first before hooking it up to your charge controller and be careful that the current output is below the rating of the controller..

thank tom for your help, this info is perfect , yes i will be using the alt as a battery bank charger . oh a friend tell me that a threadmill motor would work better  than the alt . is this possible ?, if so, at what rpm do i turn a threadmill motor to generate 24volts
