It has been working continuously for two years without a problem, and you have to put your ear right up to it to hear a sound. In fact, any sound coming from the pump is probably an indication that there is air in the lines. I heard it once whilst doing some work on my system and a few minutes later the temperature valve activated and hot water was released everywhere. Once all of the air was released from the lines everything was back to normal.
