good heater-no sun lousy-heat exchanger

We put our heater in service on Labor day . The heater produced a lot of heat for the first week or so . I don't think we have had a sunny week since . The side arm heat exchanger seems to be an inefficient system . The pipes from the collector are too hot to hold your hand on , the return pipes from the heat exchanger are almost as hot , it seems to not transfer heat efficiently .My side arm heat exchanger leaked(and one other that I am aware of did also) near the top joint-it also did not line up with the holes in the water tank .The collector and solar powered pump seem to work well, the tank and heat exchanger are lousy . I would reccommend getting a Boiler-Mate or similar tank .My telephone calls for help were not returned .
