Southwest Wind Power AIR Industrial 48V review

AIR-X is OK

Southwest Wind Power AIR Industrial 48V
I have had an AIR-X unit on a tower at my summer home in Northwest Ontario for several years. The intent is that it keep my Rolls flooded lead-acid battery array charged over the winter when I am not there. In NW Ontario in the winter, there is far more wind than sun, so wind power is the passive source of choice. Each spring when I arrive after the ice goes out on Rainy Lake, the batteries are fully charged. I used to have a MK Gel battery array, but it did not perform well in the array configuration to supply 48 VDC to my Trace 5548 Inverter/Charger. The Rolls batteries perform supurbly, but are too expensive to chance a winter freezing - the AIR-X is my insurance policy. When I switched from Gels to Flooded Lead Acid, I sent the AIR-X unit back to the factory to have the cut-out setpoint changed to support the new batteries. My only criticism is that the AIR-X seems to not cut-in to charging mode soon enough when the turbine is spinning well. Also, it took about a year for the unit to get "broken-in" so it turned and intiated readily All these products have been purchased from AltE - a great supplier.
