18v nominal modules are typically used in grid tie applications. If you intend to use them for a battery charging application, you need to select a MPPT style charge controller.

Q. What is the difference between the Sharp 208 U1 and the Sharp 208 U2?: A. September, 2007: Sharp USA is currently transitioning from the Sharp 208 U1 module to the Sharp 208 U2 module. The differences are slight electrical changes that do not affect the physical size of the modules, but may affect string sizing, charge controller size, and overcurrent protection calculations. We cannot guarantee a specific module since our distributors are also not guaranteeing specific modules. You may receive all of one type or some of both types in a single order. Please see the spec sheet and keep this in mind when doing string sizing calculations!
