Evergreen
100 Series Solar Panels
EC102/110/115/120
Photovoltaics (PV) provide clean, quiet, reliable electricity from sunlight where traditional sources are too distant, expensive, or environmentally unacceptable. With no moving parts to wear out, no emissions of any kind, and a limitless, readilyavailable power source, PV meets the need for electricity in places and ways that other sources simply cannot. Outstanding flexibility for optimal system design
Easier, faster, more accurate wiring
Advanced technology with promise for the future
Predictable, reliable, long-term performance

EC-100 Series modules, EC-102/110/115, can be wired for 12-volt or 24-volt operation by moving the jumpers and diodes, as shown in the following diagram. It is recommended that bypass diodes be installed, especially if the modules are connected in a series string. The diodes should be rated at or above the system voltage rating. Such diodes should be installed one every 36 cells, as shown in the following diagram.
In 12-volt mode, the six terminals include two positive terminals, two negative terminals, and two spare terminals. In the 12-volt configuration, the two positive terminals are electrically equivalent, and either one can be used for power wiring; similarly for the two negative terminals. In 24-volt mode (EC-100 Series modules only), the middle two terminals should not be used for power wiring, only for jumpers and diodes. |

Technology
To understand the importance of String Ribbon technology is to grasp the elegant balance it strikes between conventional and emerging technologies.
String Ribbon combines the best attributes of conventional crystalline silicon and emerging thin films. It achieves the reliability, stability, high efficiency, and market acceptance of crystalline silicon - without the inherent cost and waste of sawing. And it embodies the efficient material utilization and potential for continuous processing of thin films, but with a more manufacturable process.
In the String Ribbon technique, two high temperature strings are pulled vertically through a shallow silicon melt, and the molten silicon spans and freezes between the strings. The process is continuous: long strings are unwound from spools; the melt is replenished; and the silicon ribbon is cut to length for further processing, without interrupting growth. This advantage in material efficiency means String Ribbon yields over twice as many solar cells per pound of silicon as conventional methods. Additionally, the resulting distinctive shape of the solar cell allows for a high packing density.
Ongoing technology development shows great promise for even lower cost. Early experiments have produced 15% solar cells on thin 100 micron wafers. And downstream, in cells and modules, Evergreen Solar is developing processes that are simple, continuous, non-vacuum, high throughput, environmentally benign, and energy efficient.
