Q. Does a solar air heater work at night?: A. No, the units provide heat from sunlight. It is meant to be a supplemental heating source so that your regular heating system will not have to work as often.
Q. Can I mount the air collector upside down?: A. No, mounting it upside down will adversely affect the air flow. An upside down installation is NOT recommended by the manufacturers.
Q. What happens during the summer?: A. The units can be turned off so that the fan does not force air inside.
Q. Can I mount it horizontally?: A. Yes, horizontal installations are okay. This may not be the most efficient installation, but it should not have adverse affects.
Q. How long does the installation usually take?: A. A qualified person/contractor with appropriate tools can install this in less than 1 day. For a novice the installation may take 1 or 2 days.
Q. Where are the units manufactured?: A. The Solarsheat products are manufactured in Canada.
Q. Will it produce heat on cloudy days?: A. It is possible to get some heat production on cloudy days, but the output will not be as significant as on clear sunny days. Think of this technology as being similar to how a car left out in the sun heats up.
Q. Is it better to use a 2 pack (solarsheat 1500G and 1500GS) or two stand alone units (2-1500G units)?: A. It depends on how and where you want the heat and whether you have the space for two side by side.
Q. Do these need to face true south and at a tilt angle 90 degrees to the sun?: A. It is always best to face south, however southwest and southeast orientations are okay. The farther from south, the less production you will achieve. 90 degree angles are not necessary but are often better for winter sun angles.

SOLARSHEAT 1500GS

The SolarSheat 1500GS uses heat energy from the sun that would normally strike the roof or exterior wall,to heat your home. Each 1500GS can heat a room up to 750 sq-ft (70 sq. meters) (depending on heat loss and solar gain).

Installation

The modular frame and mount design allows single or multiple SolarSheat 1500GS units to be connected together. They can be used to directly heat multiple rooms, an insulated and sealed crawl space, basement, radiant air floors, or the entire house. It can also be connected directly to your home’s furnace to heat in the winter. A template is included to speed installation. The 1500GS mounts on an external wall or roof. It can also be mounted on the ground with collector stands.
