With the Sunny SensorBox and the sensors, you can acquire environmental data relevant to performance monitoring at your PV system. Sunny SensorBox is a complete system, which includes the SensorBox with it’s integrated irradiation sensor, the RS485 Power Injector, and the module temperature sensor.

By using irradiation and module temperature, it is possible to calculate the expected output of the PV array for comparison to the actual power output of the inverters. This can help identify and troubleshoot reductions in energy yield. The Sunny SensorBox sends data to the Sunny WebBox via an RS485 data link. From there, the data can be transferred to a PC for further processing or to the Sunny Portal for automatic performance analysis. The Sunny SensorBox can accommodate up to 3 additional sensors such as ambient temperature, wind speed and an additional irradiance sensor making the performance data even more accurate.

You can also add an ambient temperature sensor and an anemometer at the Sunny SensorBox. The RS485 Power Injector provides the Sunny SensorBox with power, and must be mounted indoors. The Sunny SensorBox sends the sensor data to the SMA communication devices (e.g. Sunny WebBox) via an RS485 interface. The system can be used for either short term or long term performance monitoring by comparing actual irradiance and module temperature with power and energy production. The SensorBox becomes a low cost performance meter for your PV system.
