Dump loads are infrequent, yet their existence is critical to reliable performance of the wind system.

Generally DL energy becomes heat when diverted from controller to resistor. This energy can be infrequently beneficial to warm the mechanical room where this equipment is installed. This energy can also be relocated away from the power system and utilized in home station and livestock applications. In warmer months additional uninterruptible DL can be utilized. This can be a properly rated DC motor, pumps, fans, lights, etc. An alternate DL must be properly sized in Ohms resistance , wattage value, and be fully capable of operating under variable voltage conditions.
