MC vs MC2

MC vs MC2

I just bought a pair of Mitsubishi panels here, and will probably be buying 6-10 more as I put more load on my new off-grid hybrid (solar+wind) garage.

When I start adding more panels, how will they connect together?  I see various MC cables and adapters here on AES, but what works with these Mitsu panels' MC2 connectors?

Is one an improvement on the other?  Are they compatible?

hey great question.  if you have mitsu 125, those are MC2, click lock.  if you have another mitsu module, you would have to check.  MC1 have tapered end on one side and a flat round with prong in the middle on the other (no clicking lock).  the mc2 are locking and click, like life vest belts or the plastic clips often seen on backpacks.  i will try to get some photos up soon.  we are going to be making a video on this soon as well.  on every module spec page, we should say what the connector type is.

Travis, if the connectors don't match, and your a do it yourselfer, you could do it the old fashioned way. Cut off the connector and run the wires directly into the junction box. Or use your own wire, unless that too voids the warranty as James mentioned.
 To bad these manufacturers feel that way about using their connectors. Another way to get more money from the consumer, especially in a business that should be user friendly.

i have removed my earlier post.  I do not recommend cutting off factory installed connectors.
